  • What is your mission?
Our desire is to provide a country setting where you can be refreshed and enjoy your horse. Our goal in everything, is to do all to the glory of God (I Corinthians 10:31).
  • What are the daily hours of operation?
We are a 24/7/365 facility. Once you join the Swinging M Stables family you will receive a security code to access the facility at your leisure.
  • Are you a show barn?
We are not. Although we do have some riders who show, we are focused on pleasure riding. We welcome all disciplines and breeds.
  • How do you prioritize arena access?
A first come, first serve operating system has always served us well. It allows for just in time access and eliminates missed appointments that are very frustrating for onsite horse owners.
  • Do you have an onsite trainer? May I continue to train with my current trainer?
We do not have a trainer on staff. Outside trainers, whose approach is consistent with our philosophy, are welcome.
  • What are the rates to board at your facility?
Please email swingingm@hotmail.com for current boarding rates.
  • What grain do you feed? May I bring my own grain?
We offer Tribute Senior and Tribute Essential K to stalled horses. If there is a medical reason that your horse needs a different grain, you are welcome to supply it. We feed grain twice a day. Stalled horses receive hay once a day on days they are turned out. If horses have to stay in, they are given hay 2-3 times a day.
  • What are turnout hours for stalled horses?
During the summer, we have night turnout, typically 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM. The rest of the year we have day turnout, typically 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
  • What is provided to the 24/7 pasture horses?
They have a run-in shelter. We provide round bales November to April. Owners are encouraged to use all the amenities. A staff member checks on the pasture horses daily, but does not closely inspect each one. We love our pasture horses, and have some fun stories. It is a very natural setting, allowing the horses to utilize their instincts.
  • How do you handle turnout on muddy days?
When the pastures are soft, it is important to protect them for the long-term benefit of the horses. On those days, we have sacrifice areas for the horses to go out, mingle with their herd mates and get fresh air. If you do not want your horse in a sacrifice area on a given day, please let us know. We would appreciate it if you would pick your horse's stall late afternoon or evening on those occasions.
  • Do you have dry lots?
We do not have dry lots. Therefore, we are not in a position to provide service to horses that cannot be turned out on grass.
  • Do you have an area my horse can go out by themselves if hurt?
We have two grassy medical paddocks. We limit turnout to two hours a day to preserve the grass. These paddocks provide a good opportunity for horses that would otherwise have to stay in a stall.
  • How do you ensure my horses safety?
Our property is gated and monitored by a video surveillance and security system. All boarders receive a gate code to access the property.
  • Will you feed my supplements?
We feed supplements to the stalled horses for no additional charge. Smart Pac delivers directly to our barn. If you have more than two dry supplements other than Smart Pac, we ask that you bag them together.
  • Do you administer meds if needed?
The general policy is that owners are responsible for administering meds, soaking, putting on leg wraps, etc. Staff members may be available to assist for a fee. We are happy to give any meds that can be added to grain. We recognize how inconvenient it can be for owners to come to the barn frequently to administer oral bute or eye ointments. We are happy to help with those and maybe other oral meds, depending on the circumstances.
  • Will you blanket my horse?
Weather conditions for blanketing vary among owners. Some owners have more than one blanket for different conditions and putting blankets on and off would dramatically delay the turn out time for the stalled horses. For those reasons, the barn does not put on or take off blankets. It is the owner's responsibility. From time to time, staff members offer a blanketing service for a fee.
  • May I use my own farrier and vet?
Yes. Pasture owners are responsible for bringing horses to the barn for vet visits and for making arrangements for their farrier to access their horse. Certain staff members may be available to assist for a fee.
  • Are dogs allowed on the property?
Dogs that are well-behaved are welcome. For the safety and enjoyment of all owners, dogs must not interfere with other owners, horses, or dogs.
